PETROL PRICE SHOOT UP......AND ELECTRICITY

http://mob1900.blogspot.com/

WHAT THEY SAY (excerpts only, for full content please visit the link).....

"This means since Abdullah Badawi became an elected Prime Minister in 2004, petrol has gone up by 97.1%, while diesel increased by a whopping 231%....."
"Two night ago, on RTM, I asked the current Finance Minister 2 about the higher revenues the country earns from higher world oil prices. Malaysia earns US$250 million more each time oil price increases by US$1 per barrel. Nor Mohamed Yakcob said the Government is of the opinion that "keuntungan PETRONAS sepatut di gunakan untuk masa depan negara dan juga anak-anak dan cucu-cucu kita" (Petronas' profits should be saved for Malaysia's future generations)".For the full transcript of interview, click here.

"Kalau kerajaan tidak cekap menangani kemerosotan ekonomi global yang sedang melanda sekarang, negara bukan sahaja akan mengalami masalah yang teruk.Apa yang sangat-sangat dikhuatiri adalah inflasi yang semakin meruncing sekarang akan bertukar menjadi stagflasi di mana harga pengguna melambung sedangkan pertumbuhan ekonomi menjadi semakin lembap."

"Besides, instead of siphoning the money into the multiple corridors which are going to enrich cronies instead of the needed group, the Government must be seen as sincere and transparent in providing assistance to them since the government is expected to save RM13.7 billion under this new subsidy restructure and other levies. Anything less than that is unacceptable and unjustifiable, given that the Government has been proven to be playing lip service over the time."

"Any way, we Malaysians have a consolation; Prime Minister Abdullah says we are still the cheapest in Asia.
I met Mrs. Ah Soh just now and she told me the price of rice which costs her RM22.50 per 5kg will now cost RM45.00 per 5kg which is a 100% increase. It is observed that essential food will/have increase 100%."

"Abdullah is taking a major political risk in removing price controls as he attempts to recover from disastrous March elections that dealt the ruling coalition its worst results in half a century. Rising prices of food and fuel were a major factor in the ballot, which has triggered repeated calls for the premier to stand down."

I really don't quite care anymore how the government explains, or justifies the petrol/diesel price increase and their restructuring of the petrol subsidy. Not convincing. I'm no economist but I am sure that there must be another way of overcoming the global oil price increase without burdening the rakyat.

"With unsubsidized fuel AND super overpriced cars, Malaysians are going to have so much fun in the future. I wonder how the fresh graduates are going to cope with such changes.1. Lack of job opportunities due to improper training/education. (And of course recession)2. Low wages, higher cost of living.3. World market fuel prices and overpriced cars. (The worst combo ever along with low wages"
"It is logical to remove the subsidy structure but the government could have been more prudent and careful in the way they did it."

What I say......I am frustrated, I am sad and disappointed....when the opposition denied 2/3 for BN to form the government, I was happy to know that the chances of petrol price hike will be impossible and will only lead further anger of rakyat towards government.
How wrong can I be???? They have done it within 100 days from election...eating their own words of no petrol hike..liar liar....nothing new as it was expected if they are to win....
The steep increase of more than 40% will burn a hole in every rakyat pockets..we are talking about every products that will be increased in tandem with petrol price....already we are living in a bolehland where are subsidizing corrupt government projects such as the ERL train to KLIA, concessionaire highways and PKFZ and now to add our burden...nah ambik kau...courtesy of BN....on the other hand I had image of PM with smirking smile....hahahah padan muka kau rakyat.....
We still have the cheapest petrol in Asia...yes with higly taxed cars, with one of the unreliable public transport and poor implementation...
Somehow the subsidy for vehicles below 2000cc sounds like an opportunity for many cronies to make a quick buck and abuse. How will this mechanism be implemented??? through who and how many billions has been allocated for it through which department??? Will JPJ counters starts dipensing cash soon for every road tax renewed?? same as the foreign registered vehicles which has been prohibited from filling up recently before price hike, this proposal of cash subsidy seems to be half cooked....
